So motherhood, grandparenthood, or perimenopause or menopause symptoms kept you up last night.
You need to look refreshed and don’t have time to take a nap.
Losing sleep during this time of life isn’t uncommon, and unfortunately, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) tells us this is a national epidemic.
Some of the culprits in midlife are: hot flashes, night sweats and anxiety. In general, we also lack the discipline to put away our electronic devices at night to prepare for a good night’s sleep.
This results in tossing and turning for hours on end. The National Sleep Foundation, in an article online, states that most adults require between 7-9 hours of sleep.
While we believe in sleeping as much as you need to, we do have some beauty remedies for the days that you need to look perky when you didn’t get enough Zzzzs.

Wash and exfoliate the skin
Wash and exfoliate your face first thing in the morning to help revitalize your skin, get the blood flow going and brighten your skin.
Your cheeks will look rosy or at least, less washed out.
Apply toner to your complexion
There is controversy among beauty experts as to whether the toning step is necessary.
Applying a toner such as inexpensive witch-hazel or rose water refreshes and moisturizes the skin and the scent is invigorating.
You can also use it to refresh your face throughout the day.
Depuff your eyes
Relax with with cucumber slices on your eyelids. Raw potato slices work just as well, and maybe even better.
Just make sure you wash them thoroughly before applying.
Apply concealer under your eyes
Concealer is a must-have and I’ve been using Bye Bye Under Eye by It Cosmetics for years now.
It’s available in several shades. I use medium, which is also the most popular.
Apply it with a concealer brush and then blend with your fingers if necessary.
Hydrate your skin
This is a must. Drink a lot of water throughout the day, and also apply a good moisturizer on your face and body.
Use a highlighter
Older skin does better with liquid or creamy highlighters.
These bounce light off of your forehead, cheeks, eyes … They make you look brighter all around.
Apply a little bit of makeup
A little makeup goes a long way when you’re tired. Tinted moisturizer or a light foundation will do.
A bit of eyeshadow and mascara, blush and a creamy lipstick or gloss will help you look refreshed.
Too much makeup can make you look even more tired!
